Basics: A kid that age acquires the calcium & other nutrients needed with 16-24 oz of bovine milk/d. Bovine milk if taken in excess can irritate the human gut, cause microscopic blood loss & lead to anemia. A slice of cheese can be a substitute for a cup of milk when needed. Normal, not low fat milk is necessary to support normal brain growth until at least age 2.
