Recheck with doctor: Most people reach their maximum height in their late teens, regardless of whether or not a teen has thalassemia. Aside from following the instructions of his primary care and hematology doctors, eating nutritious food, exercising, sleeping well, and being happy, there's not much a person nor his doctors can do to increase a 17 year-old's height beyond his natural destiny.
