Not likely to : be harmful, as long as no impurities are in the chalk. However, this is a sign of low calcium, possibly. See your doctor for testing and a safer medical treatment for any deficiency.

Pica is....disorder: Pica is Eating Disorder with eating and craving for Non-Nutritious substances like; chalk, clay, hair, soil ... In pregnancy it could be a sign of some nutrient deficiency like; iron, zinc, calcium. Yes, chalk eating can be dangerous for mother and child. One probably needs quality Multivitamins & Supplementation but best to see PCP/ Gynecologist for evaluation and Lab. Sooner than later is better
