Usually dermatology: One can ask to have a mole removed when visiting a skin doctor (dermatologist). Removal is often at a subsequent appointment, not the first one. The patient and doctor can decide on a plan. Moles that need to be removed for safety reasons are usually covered by insurance. Moles that one wants to remove for appearance reasons are generally "self-paid" by the patient.
