Dull cramp pain on right flank. ultrasound found 17mm cyst in liver fam doc said its nothing serious. i forgot to ask more questions, could the cyst be the cause of the dull pain? can i drink alcohol?

Liver cysts: Are quite common and usually not a worry, nor do they cause pain. Alcohol consumption should always be in moderation regardless of any underlying medical problems. If your liver is also enlarged that may cause pain on your right upper side. Your family doctor is probably just communicating the benign report your ultrasound. If pain persists your doctor may recommend ct scan which is more sensitive.

Usually not: 17 mm cyst should not cause symptoms unless it is near a diaphragm or nerve endings. If your live function tests are okay and if you do not drink more than 2 drinks at a time and not more than 2 times a month you can.
