My menstrual periods have not stopped for 3 months. i have had a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy (awaiting results). my gynae has prescribed birth control pills to reduce bleeding (am still on them), but bleeding hasnt stopped? please assist

Vaginal bleeding ?'s: At age 48, menstrual irregularities are common. Taking oral bcp's may stop ovarian estrogen production, and stop ovulation, but unless one takes the active pills very punctually, withdrawal bleeding may occur and seem continuous. Stop the pill for five days, and then start a new pack, but take the active pills within the hour of having taken the previous day's active pill .
