we arw traveling to the kruger national park on friday and will be staying for 9 days, is it necessary to take malaria prevention medication, if so which ones would be best to use?

Dr. Naseema Barday

Maalria prophylaxis : The answer would be yes. As you are leaving in only 1 day, your choices are either Doxyxycline (i believe that there is a nationwide shortage, though you may get hold of it) or Malanil/generic. the latter is the easiest, starting today, and for use until 7 days after you leave the area.

Malaria: Dr. Barday already provided medication recommendations. What month is the trip. Kruger National Park is considered a high risk Malaria area from October to May.
