Sciatica: If your sciatica has been shown to be caused by a bulging or herniated intervertebral disc an injection of corticosteroid by a pain management specialist may be quite effective. Anti-inflammatory pain relievers like ibuprofen or naproxen as well as Tylenol may help. Prescription pain relievers containing opioid or tramadol are often used for pain relief. I haven't found that physical therapy helps
