A member asked:

Can you please describe the frequency of women that carry hemophilia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hemophilia A or B?: Hemophilia a is the most common type of the condition; 1 in 4, 000 to 1 in 5, 000 males worldwide are born with this disorder. Hemophilia b occurs in approximately 1 in 20, 000 newborn males worldwide. About 70% of these cases occur in families with a known history of hemophilia, giving a rough estimate of carrier frequency. The other 30% are new mutations, or families didn't know.
