Called the throat: Sore throat and tonsillitis symptoms usually are evaluated by a rapid strep test in addition to an exam. If there are strep germs, antibiotics such as amoxicillin or Zithromax are needed. One's primary care doctor can evaluate. Other possible causes of throat symptoms include allergens, viruses, other irritants, etc...
