A member asked:

What are some common differences between a regular inflamed hemorrhoid and something more serious like an perianal abscess?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Latter is infected: An inflamed hemorrhoid is generally not infected, though can be painful. A perianal abscess is an isolated infection of the soft tissue in that region ,is quite painful ,and may drain pus. If your problem continues , I suggest you see your fam doc or a GI/colorectal doc.
