My son is now 4 months old. i have to leave him last dec 23 because ill be having a surgery back then. so i leave him to my mother-in-law. the problem is when i got back today after 4-5 days, my son doesnt recognize me and starts crying.help!??

Relax: Infants do not understand the family pecking order & this is simply a transient issue. They identify most with where their last meal came from along with the nurturing it provided. Get back in his routine & don't be so sensitive. If you withdraw it will get worse. Be comforting & tolerate the rejection as a simple reflection of the event, not a new way forward.

Once he gets over the initial surprise he will recognize you as the first and foremost person he is bonded to, physically and emotionally. Don't fret - just keep loving him and it will work out.
