ER can evaluate: A person who suddenly goes into severe pain and cannot stand properly may be having an emergency condition and can be evaluated in the ER. Of course, she should not drive herself (much safer to call 911 or the local emergency number and go to the ER by ambulance). The ER doctor can examine the patient and order tests if needed.
