A member asked:

I have consistent dry night coughs that are getting progressively worse. allergy meds and cough meds do not work. i'm not a smoker, my throat is always dry and irritated. this all started recently, less than a year or so, no other illness or symptoms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

That's a long time: A person who has over two weeks of cough should see a doctor. Many months sounds like a long time. The doctor can evaluate to see if there is allergies, asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis, tuberculosis, acid reflux, or perhaps another problem in the throat or chest. Problems can be more serious if the person is exposed to occupational chemicals, pollution, or has other health problems.
