A member asked:

My blood pressure was 140 over 80 thursday and i checked it again today. 1st test was 163 over 92 and second was 135 over 82. should i go to the doctor to get meds or watch it for a while first?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can call one's Dr.: His doctor might ask for a few more measurements (but to be seen right away if having symptoms). A patient needs several measurements, preferably when not ill. He can make a diary of measurements for several days, and take the numbers plus the home BP machine to show his doctor. Measurements can be after waking in the morning, once during the daytime, and a third measurement before bed.
