HIV negative: Both results are completely and reliably negative. It's in the biochemistry of the test: varying numbers are expected. The very same specimen tested 10 times would give 10 different numbers, especially if done with different lots of test kits. Any and all numbers below the positive cut-off (usually around 0.9-1.1) are equally negative. (You could have a result of say 0.8 someday. Still negative.)
