Sore throat: I assume your throat cultures have shown no pathogens. Allergies, especially with postnasal drip can cause throat irritation. Other causes include gastroesophageal reflux, laryngopharangeal reflux,smoking, air pollution,yelling and, in young people like you, infectious mononucleosis. Mouth examination : Allergic irritation, reflux or infection may be related to your symptoms. Avoid smoke,dust and pollen exposure. Please discuss a less likely underlying cause at your age, which is malignancy. More often though the symptoms are related to an allergic reaction. Try an over the counter antihistamine for relief and then please follow up with your physician.
