Monitor: Since you describe a sensation of palpitations, I think it's important to document the heart rhythm during those symptoms. Wearing a heart monitor as an outpatient for 24-48 hours would be worthwhile. Be sure to write down the time you're experiencing these symptoms. Assessment needed.: You may have several contributing factors...medications, diet, hormonal issues, etc. A good work-up by an individual with training in sleep disorders may shed light on potential causes. A sleep test would be helpful. 24 hour monitors can be helpful in identifying particular events. Contact the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for professional help in your area.
