A member asked:

Pos ana x 5yr now neg, but ds-dna same indeterminate at 9 x same 5yr. always told it was lupus but doesnt seem like it. pain is always nerve or muscle now. what is ana neg with indeterminate ds-dna? what other labs are needed? cbc, ua, cmp wnl.

DsDNA: This indeterminate value of antibodies to dsDNA may be a forerunner of more obvious lupus pathology such as occurs in the kidney. The lab tests, CRP and ESR, are usually elevated in active systemic lupus and are worth checking if you haven't already done so. Negative values would be reassuring. A neurologist could evaluate nerve pain. I assume that you have consulted a rheumatologist to guide you
