I coughed and i started hiccuping. however, i noticed that the hiccups were very chesty and violent i guess. it sort of hurt my chest when i hiccupped. i was able to stop it, but why would my chest hurt during a hiccup?

Hiccups: Are the result of sudden and strong contractions of the diaphragm and intercostal muscle. Some of them may strain the intercostal muscles and as such cause pain.
