Post infection: There may be residual inflammation in the lung after the initial illness. If there is mucus in the nose, nasal saline drops and suction to remove the mucus may reduce post nasal drip. Cough syrups are not very effective nor recommended at this age. Please follow up if the cough persists for more than 3 weeks. Provide fluids and monitor for fever.
