Doctor can check: Doctors usually don't give babies medications, even over-the-counter items, unless there's good benefit. A mom can bring the item to the doctor to check ingredients, but a little bit of a trusted brand of "gripe water" drops may be ok to try. For newborns, it is safest if the doctor examines. I don't recommend "gripe water" for my patients, and I've never seen a "gripe water" make much difference.
