Can taking aleve (naproxen) on and off for months cause mild iron deficiency anemia?

Very unlikely: The drug itself doesn't cause iron deficiency. It can induce gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastrities or peptic ulcer, but these are very unlikely with normal doses taken only from time to time. Probably not related to your anemia. Discuss with your doctor.
