Possible infection: An antibiotic may be indicated, but local care including using an antacid liquid topically with a cotton ball, and avoiding acidic foods may relieve symptoms.

Symptoms: If gum swelling everywhere, may have virus, and should be getting better by now. If swelling only in front, may be teething. Increased mucous flow combined w only a liquid diet can cause loose stools. Cold teething ring will sooth. As he's a year old, take him to see a Pedodontist, a pediatric dental specialist (no, it's not too soon) for examination, growth & development evaluation, and advice.
