About that...: A little bit of rubbing alcohol puts out a small amount of vapor, but nothing that should cause such symptoms. More likely, such symptoms are just coincidental with using rubbing alcohol (she can ask her primary care doctor about any persistent symptoms). If a patient has low tolerance of alcohol vapors, perhaps she can stop alcohol and substitute with something else that her doctor may recommend.

Likely bronchospasm: The lungs have a protective mechanism that closes small airways to prevent vapors/toxic gasses from damaging the delicate lung tissues. Any fumes can trigger this briefly but it relaxes & opens when the fumes fade. It is similar to what asthma patients suffer but theirs persists. Alcohol fumes at that level have minimal toxicity. If you feel better now you are likely fine.
