A 25-year-old male asked:

Fever since 2 days?

Post longer question: About fevers... in minor illnesses like a cold, fevers go away by themselves. Most people use over-the-counter drugs like Tylenol, Motrin, or Advil for relief of such symptoms. If a person has had prior infections more than usual, or is looking sickly, he can check with his doctor. Each case is individually decided upon regarding any need for exams and lab tests. It's hard to predict one's future.

More info needed: Fever can have a variety of causes, but it's commonly associated with infection. Your doctor will take a thorough history, perform a physical exam and order appropriate tests to determine the cause. Fever in an adult is usually a significant finding, so please see the doctor.
A female asked:

Fever 2 days after flu shot?

Dr. Keegan Duchicela
Family Medicine 14 years experience
Not uncommon: Fever is a sometimes unpleasant side effect of the flu shot (and most vaccines). Good news is your body's responding appropriately and your immune system is working. If the fever lasts more than 24 hrs or your having other side effects, it doesn't hurt to let your doc know. Otherwise, it'll go away on its own. Best of luck!
A 40-year-old member asked:

What to do if I have fever 2 days post op management?

1 doctor answer2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Robert Madden
Specializes in Anesthesiology
Post op fever: Low grade post-op fever is fairly common. The most common early post-op cause of fever is lung atelectasis (collapse of the tiny gas exchange sacs) which can be prevented by frequent deep inspiration and/or use of an incentive spirometer. Later causes of fever may include urinary tract infection, wound infection & deep vein thrombosis (blood clot). High fever warrants urgent evaluation.
