A member asked:

My four month olds soft spot is sunken but she has no other symptoms. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably ok but...: Most parents don't notice the soft spot as being sunken, because there is rarely a reason to check it at home. Since the spot is not filled in with bone yet, its surface is normally below the height of the surrounding bone, so is always sunken from that perspective. We worry more only in sick babies, if the spot feels sunken a lot. We also worry if it feels swollen in a calm, resting baby.
