If it is sertraline: Pregnancy and psychiatric illnesses can happen together. Maternal psychiatric illness is not good for a pregnant woman and surely is bad for the baby after delivery. That means a woman with such a condition should first consult with her psychiatrist, her primary care doctor, and her Ob-Gyn doctor before embarking on the pregnancy journey. Thus, taking sertraline is often safer than not taking it.
