A member asked:

The back of my throat looks white and yellow, could this be the beginning of influenza?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to guess: Time will tell. New throat symptoms can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used, but Tamiflu may be used for influenza), or from some other cause such as allergies, irritants, or stomach acid reflux. Usually, a person sees the doctor if throat symptoms are bothersome, recurrent, or don't go away quickly.
