My two year old son has bulging on the right side of his neck beside his sternocleidomastoid when he cries, strains, or laughs. it goes away after he calms down. it does leave sort of a bluish spot when it goes away. it's quite large at times. ?

Possible defect: There may be a cyst or other lesion inside. Imaging the area may reveal a possible cause. Since it is unilateral, I would recommend an ultrasound as an initial test. Please see your PCP, and a HealthTap virtual consultation is available.
