Depends on diet: A dark country presumably means a time of year with little sunlight. Some people get plenty of dietary vitamin D (one can look up his dietary amounts, noting fortified vs. unfortified foods). For daily supplements, 400iu or 10mcg is recommended, but more if one started out deficient.
