I am thinking of having a sterilisation procedure done, are there any health related issues i should consider?

Maybe: Depends on type of procedure, and on luck. One question is, "When should a person feel old enough to sterilize permanently?" That means not being able to have future children, ever. For most couples, age and the number of living children are the major factors. We doctors do not want to do something to a person whom we feel is not that old (who maybe will have a change of heart later).

Not long-term: If you are considering a tubal ligation then there are no long term side effects in most people. The only possibility would be pain if scarring and adhesions developed but this is very rare. If there are no complications such as bleeding with the procedure, then there should not be any long term health related issues.
