Some thoughts...: An ear that feels strange for whatever reason, such as ringing (tinnitus), and doesn't normalize in a day or two, should be checked by one's primary care doctor. The primary care doctor may refer to an ENT specialist if needed. There may be excess wax, ear fluid behind the eardrum, a middle ear infection, inner ear inflammation, etc... Sudden adult hearing loss may need urgent treatment.

Why do my ears ring so much more after work? I have mild tinnitus and Im an OR nurse. Its never loud or noisy at work, but when driving home from work the ringing seems 10x as bad, like leaving a rock concert without ear plugs. Stress, maybe?
High pitched squeal and low hum in my ears. doctors either jump to tinnitus or send me to audiologist who in turn tries to sell me hearing aids. Ears seem blocked but the noise is keeping from sleeping and driving me insane!!
