Rarely: The goal of all tinnitus treatment is to have it become a neutral sound. The brain does not pay attention to stimuli that are felt to be unimportant. Most tinnitus patients spend the majority of their lives "not hearing it." for these patients tinnitus is only occasionally annoying. A few patients are so consumed by the sound that they spend huge energy obsessing about it - they do very poorly.
