A member asked:

I stepped incorrectly and my ankle is swollen and throbbing when i'm standing still and i can walk but difficult how long should i wait until i should go to the doctor?

Depends on severity: After having an ankle sprain, a person can rest a few days until the ankle feels better. Then, one can usually try sports again but start with light exercise and gradually increase the activities as long as the ankle doesn't hurt during or right after the exercise. If the ankle hurts a great deal, an exam is likely needed... or if the ankle doesn't improve daily after 2 days... or if very worried.
