A member asked:

49 -year-old woman. being treated for a possible yeast infection with diflucan. but i have a thick white substance that smells really fishy, no other symptoms, will diflucan cure that? its been 2 days and there has been no change.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Discharge odor ?'s: The characteristic odor of a yeast infection is a sour smell, not "fishy", which is more characteristic of trichomonas (a parasite). Your anti-fungal (yeast) medication will not cure trichomonas, so see your gyn physician for a vaginal smear , as trichomonas can be seen under the microscope.
