Ligament instability: Typically if you have a torn or partially torn ligament and physical therapy has not helped surgery is necessary.

Chronic lateral ankle instability with a chronic tear of the atfl ligament and capsule. The sprain happened a year ago. PT helped 6 months ago. Now mild pain is back when walking and standing. Will this be a recurring problem for the rest of my life?
