A member asked:

My child got a small bite from a dog in the park she is up to date with her vaccinations she is 9 years old - do we need to go see a doctor ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

& the dog ?: Dog bites can be a significant cause of tissue infections, tetanus or rabies. If the dog has had its shots or there is no rabies in your region that is less an issue. Good cleaning of the bite should reduce chance of infection. The kids tetanus should be up to date but it would not hurt to check records. If the site becomes inflamed she needs to see her doc.
