I was stung three times by yellow jackets. it's been a week. all three spots are red, warm feeling, and itchy. the sting spot is surrounded by redness. is this normal? or do i need to see a dr.

Sounds normal: This sounds well within the range of normal for such stings. Application of heat over the sites may improve blood flow & speed healing, but may trigger more itching or discomfort. If the process has spooked you go in & have it looked at.
