Flat, white spot on my tongue, lower side of tongue near the molars. zero to mild pain when tongue not moving but incredibly hard to swallow water or food because of pain when doing so. what could this be and would benzocaine help?

White spot: Size/duration/growing? Probably viral. If not totally gone in 2 weeks see General Dentist or Oral Surgeon immediately. Benzocaine in Orabase (Orabase B) may give some symptomatic relief. Laser ablation may be helpful.
