A member asked:

Can supplementing w magnesium cause my heart rate to go too low? im a normal 21 yo make, no health problems but my resting heart rate is pretty low i guess bc decent health. its around 50 when laying in bed near sleep. would mag reduce it too far?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Magnesium: A heart rate of 50 in a healthy young patient resting in bed is quite normal. I doubt that ordinary doses of a magnesium supplement in a person with normal kidney function would reach toxic levels.
