I was just prescribed ranitidine 300 mg hcl tablets. i have acid reflux with ulcers on my throat. my doctor said i could break them i have trouble swallowing pills. i wanted to know if it was ok to break them?

Yes: It is safe to break up the tablets or to crush them if necessary, as they are not specifically a time release medication. They are quite bitter so disguising the pieces in apple sauce, etc., would be helpful.

Yes: It is okay to split tablets of Ranitidine. This medication also comes in a liquid or dissolving tablet form so it might be worth discussing with your doctor if you can get a new prescription for a different form of the medication so it is easier for you to take. You may also crush the tablets and dissolve them in something like simple syrup - you’ll just want to take the medicine within a week.
