I have a fungal infection inside & behind my ears that has spread to my scalp. i went to my dr. about it before it spread but the anti fungal cream he prescribed only lessened the severity & the rash comes back once i stop using it. whats going on??

Seborrheic dermatiti: This sounds like seborrheic dermatitis -- it's the same problem as dandruff, but more severe. You might need a steroid cream in addition to antifungal. Discuss with your doctor; if s/he seems uncertain, request referral to a dermatologist.

Doctor can recheck: Maybe not or no longer a fungal issue. A fungal skin infection is more likely to occur on warm, moist parts of the body such as armpits, groin, or in between toes. Candida yeast infections can occur on the skin or in the mouth or vagina. Fungi can be found on moist areas like locker room floors, so athlete's foot infections can start from contact with fungi on floors or on other people's footwear.
