A member asked:

Is it possible to pass a gallbladder stone after having gall bladder removed?

Not exactly: A gallbladder stone, because your gallbladder is gone, but you can form, and then pass, a biliary stone that forms in the common bile or common hepatic duct. This can cause infection called cholangitis or pancreatitis, both serious conditions.

Yes: Patients who have developed gallstones in the past will often have inherent imbalances to the components of their bile that can make them form stones within their remaining ducts. These stones will pass directly from the liver into the intestine when the gallbladder has been removed.
