A member asked:

Can you have normal androgen and insulin/ glucose levels with pcos but show symptoms of high androgen levels like hirsutism?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes : the low levels of sex hormone binding globulin, can cause the otherwise normal levels of androgens to be more active. Checking glucose/insulin levels, with a 3 hr glucose tolerance test, may show insulin resistance more clearly. Decreased simple carbs can help, medication can also be helpful.
