Never a good idea: Your goals should be clear as to what you are trying to accomplish. If this is to improve sleep, using both ethanol and benzodiazepines becomes high risk and should not be tried as such. Your prescriber should be aware of your issues and try to inform them as well. Both benzodiazepines and alcohol are well known of destroying normal sleep architecture in the long run.
