A member asked:

Should the adenoids in my 2 year old be removed? she struggles to breathe at night, sometimes she stops breathing in her sleep then bursts out crying. when she was 2 months old, the paediatrician said her nose bridge was too flat.

Some basics: Tonsils & adenoids grow faster than the kid, especially when stimulated by infections. These can pre-dispose the kid to sleep problems due to a narrowed airway but these need to be verified before major surgery. Brief pauses of up to 10 sec are common in toddler sleep. Longer may indicate sleep apnea & benefit from surgery. I'd get an ENT evaluation & sleep study.
