A member asked:

Would i be able to have your entire stomach removed due to cancer, and still survive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely: Depending on the location of gastric tumors, sometimes the whole stomach needs to be removed. The more important factors predicting long-term survival after gastric surgery are "type" of tumor (gastric adenocarcinoma vs. Others), depth of the tumor, number of lymph nodes involved, and distant spread. Considerations for chemotherapy should be discussed with your surgeon.
