A member asked:

Wrote several times that 72years man has serum creatinine going from 2.0 to 2.8 to 1.9mg/dl in 1 month. some of the docs here anwered that its first stage ckd, some that its advanced stage. why is evaluation based on same analysis so different?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Complicated: Acute Kidney injury: stage 1 for 1.5-1.9 times baseline or an increase in >0.3mg/dl. Stage 2: 2-2.9 times baseline. Stage 3: 3 times baseline or increase in creatinine >4mg/dl. For CKD we need to know Glomerular Filtration Rate to classify, and to calculate it we also need the weight. Its more complicated than what it looks like, and requires full evaluation not only biochemical numbers.
