Spotting at 9 weeks: Spotting at nine weeks of pregnancy may reflect a temporary deficiency of progesterone when the ovary (corpus luteum) has stopped making progesterone, and the placenta has not yet achieved the former level supplied by the ovary, resulting in some bleeding. Your OB physician may want to add some oral progesterone in the interim.
